Biography

James Patrick Green- or Pat to his friends... came up in the
Northern California music scene of Sacramento and the San
Francisco Bay Area as a young keyboard player, performing
with R&B; funk bands. In 1977 Green joined with Sacramento
bassist Gordon Jones(later writer/producer for Bobby
Brown,Coolio), playing many dance clubs.
In 1978 Green and Jones hooked up with producer/recording
artist Robert Brookins (formerly with Clark Duke project,
Stephanie Mills, Geoffrey Osborn, and currently music
director and keyboardist for Earth, Wind, and Fire) to form
the group Afterbach... featuring their 1981 Billboard dance
single "It's You" on Maurice White's (leader of EWF) ARC
Label. AfterBach performed inconcert with a diverse range of
groups like Jeff Lorber, Ray Goodman and Brown, and Alton
McClain.
After a European tour with AfterBach and disco divas Alton
McClain & Destiny("It Must Be Love"-Polydor Records) in
the late '70s and early '80s, Green played with Bay Area
artists Eddie Mininfield/saxophone and John
Paris/drums(formerly with Sheila E., Prince, Patty LaBell,
and currently EWF) in dance clubs and in concert with
various groups like Con Funk Shun.
Throughout the '80s and early '90s Green turned his
attention to writing/producing and audio record engineering.
Opening Greensweep Recording studio in Sacramento, he went
on to engineer and produce several projects, including a
joint production in 1991 with producer Brian Alexander
Morgan, for the group Fonke Socialistiks- "You are My
Heaven" on Priority Records, a #19 Billboard dance single.
Later, as an engineer with Morgan, on RCA dance vocalist
Martha Wash... and her hit record "Give It To You" that went
gold in 1992... then engineering on the RCA Recording Artist
SWV(sisters with voices) multi platinum album "It's About
Time", that placed four #1 Billboard Pop and Urban R&B;
hits, as well as movie soundtrack singles in the motion
pictures "Free Willie" and "Above the Rim" in 1993.
In the late 1990's, Green took a long break from the music
business to pursue an adventure in placer gold mining that
took him from the historic gold country of California, to
the jungles of Cambodia and Vietnam. Today, Green has
written works for kids and grownups of all ages. Truly a
multi-talented artist!
